Normally, if your PowerPoint can't accept MP4 video, that will because that your PowerPoint is lower version or your MP4 has a wrong codec. It is possible to have a media file in the right format, but encoded by a codec that PowerPoint doesn't understand. If your file is already in the correct format, it is likely that the codec used to digitize the file is not supported on Windows and PowerPoint. After all, MP4 is a container that can contain viarous video and audio codec: H.263, H.264, H.264, XviD, MPEG-4, VC-1, WMV, AAC, AC3, DTS, MP3, etc. Not all the codec in MP4 is supported by PowerPoint.

When your MP4 isn't supported by PPT, you can convert it to a compatible on with a video file converter. A video converter can help you convert MP4 to H.264 AAC MP4 or WMV, MOV, 3GP, MPG, ASF for PowerPoint. A web search for "video converter" or "audio converter" will show you numerous converters that are available, many of which are free, such as Free Video DVD Converter Ultimate, Handbrake. Now, let's start to transcode MP4 video to PowerPoint with these free converters. You can use either one to finish the task. Click the tab to enter into the detailed guide.

How to Insert a video to PowerPoint?

In PowerPoint 2010 and later, you can link or embed a video from your PC directly into your presentation.

  • Embedded videos are convenient, but increase the size of your presentation.
